Mayoral Charity Ball’s goat gets its rightful owner
Last year in mid- November the Swakopmund Council/ Municipality hosted its Mayoral Charity Ball which turned out to be a very successful fundraising event. Councillor Omuiingona Uahi-misa Kaapehi pledged a live goat for the fundraising and the animal was auctioned.
The two gentlemen who showed the biggest interest in the goat interest in the auction were Riaan Coetzee of Namibia Construction and Christo Van Wyk, who each bid N$2 500 for the goat, amounting to a total of N$5 000 in aid of the fundraising.
Van Wyk later gave up on the goat. On Monday Kaapehi brought the goat to the municipal offices and handed the animal over to Mayor Nashilundo. Then the mayor handed over the goat to Coetzee who was very happy to drive off with the live goat on his pick-up. The Mayor also received a painting which was donated by Mr Stiebahl in aid of the fundraising.
The main aim of the Mayoral Charity Ball is to establish strategic alliances with stakeholders and other relevant role players to uplift disadvantaged persons and needy schools and organisations. Stakeholders pledge donations both in the form of cash or equipment.
