Windpomp Mile 14 was officially launched on Friday, only weeks after refurbishments started in terms of a joint venture by Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) and Sun Karros. The event was hosted by NWR during which the company’s managing director Zelna Hengari praised this joint venture which now added a grand new visitors facility to the central west coast.
According to Hengari a group by the name of ISIS Investments signed a twenty-five year lease agreement for Mile 14 with NWR in August 2008. However, rough seas weeks after the deal washed away large parts of Mile 14 and ISIS Investments could not continue with plans to develop the area.
This year NWR rekindled the fires of a joint venture and entered into an agreement for the lease and development of Mile 14 with Sun Karros.
In a record few weeks Sun Karros managed to transform Mile 14 into a breathtaking holiday facility, including the iconic Windpomp Mile 14 pub-concept which is expected to become iconic for visitors both from Namibia but also outside the country’s borders. This very unique feature include a landing strip which enables light aircraft to taxi right up to the pub and drop off passengers for an enjoyable time.
