Minenhle Moyo from Swakopmund is the 2020 Trustco NTA Junior Master champion after she thrashed Ottilie Hinda 8-0 in the under 10 final at the prestigious Trustco NTA Junior Masters Tennis Tournament held over the past weekend at the Central Tennis Club, DTS and Nampol Tennis Club in Windhoek.

Minenhle Moyo, Natalia Ouses, Mark Linow, Dionisio Dias, Antonio Tchivanda and Lucinda Botes from the Erongo region with71 players from all over the country participated in the Trustco sponsored tournament that saw the best junior tennis players contending for the Trustco Namibian Junior Master’s titles.
Minenhle Moyo dominated the girls under 10 division by winning all her group matches without dropping one game. Only Linda Alemu, who ended in 3rd place overall, was able to take one game from her. In the finals Moyo thrashed Ottilie Hinda with a score of 8-0.
In the under 14 boy’s division the coastal sensation Antonio Tchivanda who only played in three tournaments this year because of the Coastal lockdown got the better of 4th seed Juan Kuhn with a score of 6-1, 6-0 to book his place in the semi-final.
Antonio Tchivanda how ever lost the semi-final 1-6, 3-6 to 1st seed Adam Diggle with 2nd seed Oliver Leicher beat Ruben Nel 6-4 and 6-0 the second semi-final. Tchivanda who only had the chance to play three tournaments this year because of the Coastal lockdown, surprised Ruben Nel as he won the match 6-4 and 6-0 to end third overall.
The finals were deter-mined in a nail-biting three setter with Leicher taking the first set. Diggle dug hard to get the second set 7-6 and then an easier third set with a score of 6-1.
According to the Erongo team Coach Nqobilizwe Moyo, Natalia Ouses, Mark Linow, Dionisio Dias and Lucinda Botes did not do well in the tournament but know that the players will continue to train hard to become better and more competitive.
Moyo said “We would like to thank Trustco Group for coming through for junior tennis and the NTA for inviting our junior players to participate in the prestigious Trustco NTA Junior Masters Tennis Tournament.”
The coach also thanked the parents for their commitment and contribution as well as their role in ensuring that the junior players are well prepared.
The president of junior tennis in Namibia, Mr. Sam Kaulinge, thanked Trustco for their contribution towards sponsoring junior tennis annually.
Neville Basson, spokes-person of Trustco said “Every year we try harder. We strive to do things a little better than the year before. We see an immense talent in our players, hence our full support. Not even the “new normal” under Covid-19 could dampen our spirit in ensuring a spectacular tournament for all players and tennis enthusiasts.”
