The B2 road yet again became a scene of horror and death. On Wednesday afternoon a mother, her two daughters and their grandmother were wiped out when their 7-seater sedan slammed head-on into a truck 50 km from Usakos. The truck was coming from the direction of Arandis when the vehicle carrying seven occupants, including two minor girls, collided head-on with it.

The 53-year-old grandmother, Meriam Shehama, her 30-year-old daughter, Sylvia Tuafeni Gideon and two granddaughters, Emily Shikongo (8) and Anneli Iyaloo Ndeshaala Mbinda (15 months) died in the crash.
Ilanza Noleen Kongoro (30) and the driver Gonzales Hoabeb (20) were also killed.
The truck driver who was the sole occupant and one person in the 7-seater survived the horrific accident. The survivor in the 7-seater was in fact a hitch hiker who boarded at Omaruru. Her name was given by the Namibian Police as Rosalia Mwedihanga (32).
At the time of going to press Mwedihanga was still hospitalised at the Swakopmund state hospital where her condition was described as stable.
A case of culpable homicide was opened.
