Mutjavikua laid to rest at Grootfontein
The former Governor of Erongo Cleophas Mutjavikua was laid to rest this past weekend at Grootfontein. Mutjavikua passed away of Covid-19 complications on 3 January this year.
A memorial service was held for the former Governor in Swakopmund on Friday afternoon.
At the memorial service the current serving Governor of Erongo, Cllr Neville Andre Itope described Mutjavikua as a true fighter for the betterment of the lives of the people of Erongo.
“We lay Comrade Mutjavikua to rest with the solemn pledge that we will continue to fight for the betterment of our people through housing development, equitable land distribution, water provision, youth employment opportunities, workers’ rights, labour harmony and investment promotion”, Andre said.
Mutjavikua is survived by his spouse and 6 children.
Mutjavikua was buried at the Commonwealth War Cemetery at Grootfontein. A few family members and government officials attended the funeral.
