NALASRA games jam-pack Walvis Bay

The 11th edition of the Namibia Local Authorities Sports and Recreation Association (NALASRA) Games officially kicked off at Walvis Bay on Monday.

With all the places that could be available to accommodate more than 4 000 participants at the week-long annual NALASRA games in Walvis Bay.
The Mayor of the harbor town Alderman Immanuel Wilfried said “We are proud to host this event not only because it is an exciting event for all local authorities to mingle but because this platform is an opportunity for fostering good working relationships among local authorities across Namibia by networking and promoting health and wellness through sports and recreation”.
Participants from 37 Local Authorities are at the harbour town as the Walvis Bay Municipality is hosting the event for the first time. Sporting codes that include Soccer, Netball, Volleyball, Darts, Pool, Golf, Tennis, Half Marathon, Ring Board, Stone Games a Fun Walk and over 40 year 7-a-side soccer are played. NALASRA is a regional body that promotes local authority’s employees’ morale and health through sporting activities by hosting annual week-long games. This is to promote interaction between municipal practitioners at local, national and regional level.
The finals will be played today at the Jan Wilken stadium in Walvis Bay.
