Namib Times, 15 January 1991: “The South African Minister of Foreign Affairs Pik Botha has informed the American Government that South African harbours and bases will be placed at the Allieds’ disposal in the event of a war between the “free world” and Iraq. That is if the deadline for the withdrawal of Iraq from Kuwait is not honoured.
