Namibian Darts select best players

The Namibian Darts Federation on Saturday selected the best players at its trials held at Walvis Bay. The player will represent Namibia at the Region Five Championships in Gaborone, Botswana at the end of August 2018.

Sixty of the best darts players from only six of the fourteen regions in the country fought it out on the dart boards for a place in the national team.
The tournament director, Mr. Frans Husfieldtn told namib times that the player performed well overall and the those selected can be regarded as the best among the best.
The Development Director of the Federation, Mr. Reginald Williams, confirmed a few practice games will be held to prepare the players. The Federation would like to take a junior boys and a junior girls teams to the championships. The juniors were not present at the trials and the Federation will hold trails for the juniors early next year for the selections.
Three of the women senior team players are from the Namibian Police Force in the Oshana Region. This is the first time ever that the three women played in the trails and a first for the national team. These women are very happy and were overwhelmed of joy. Two third of the player that were selected is the product of the Chairperson of the Namibian Police National Sports Council, Major General Des Shalunga. More than fifty percent of the dart players in the country are member of the Namibian Police countrywide.

Senior Women’s team:

Velena Albanus (Oshana)
Maria M Jairus (Oshana)

Veteran Men’s team:
Reginald Williams (Erongo Region)
Frans Husfieldt (Khomas)

Veteran women team:
Brigite Viviers (Khomas)
Christine Van Der Heever (Kharas Region)
