Namibian fighters ready to rumble
The Namibian kick boxers are ready and well prepared for Desert Storm II that is under way at the Namibian Ring Contact Fighting Art International (RCFAI) & Kickboxing Academy at the West-port Warehouse in Rossing St, Walvis Bay.
A record number of 180 fighters are participating today and tomorrow at Desert Storm II that is hosted by the Namibian Kickboxing Federation (NFK).
The participating fighters that are from Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Brazil, Portugal and Botswana are at the RCFAI Namibia & Kickboxing Academy will compete in Kick-boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Krav Maga and Muay Thai.
A total of five title fights is lined up for tomorrow 29 September with many other none title fights across all participating disciplines. The Namibian champions Delano Muller, Sensei Leslie !Hoaeb and Julian Muller will defend their Sub-Saharan titles they won at the first Desert Storm event in 2017 in Walvis Bay.
The NKF will make history in the country as for the first time they will host a K1 level fight at Desert Storm. The two fighters that will battle it out for the K1 title is the Namibian light heavyweight kick-boxing champion Julian Müller who needs no introduction as he won the Sub-Sahara Title last year and won titles in Germany where he studies.
The opponent is the South African Light Heavy-weight Kickboxing Champion Petrus “Bafana” Mayisela.
Mayisela arrived in Namibia earlier for some sight-seeing and to prepare for participation at Desert Storm II and share his fighting skills and techniques with the fighters of the RCFA & Kickboxing Academy in Walvis Bay.
The Namibian Super Lightweight Lesley !Hoaeb will defend his title against Bruce Gumbo from Zimbabwe.
Delano Müller the Sub Sahara Atom weight champion will defend his title against the winner of the three challengers Benal Andrea from Zimbabwe, Tabiso Mkhwebane from South Africa and Humphrey Mulenga from Zambia.
The Muay Thai Featherweight title fight will be between Paulo Nunes from Angola and Jonathan Banda from Zambia.
The Ring Contact Fighting Art International Featherweight title fight will be between Martins Mkhwebane from South Africa and Knowledge Nyamhoka from Zimbabwe.
The Desert Storm will starts today at 15:00 with Krav Maga and Series Kata, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Fitness Challenge at 17:00 and at 18:30 will be a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and self defense demonstration.
Tomorrow at 09:00 the Kickboxing will start with the Fitness challenge, Points sparring and Semi-Contact and the Sub Sahara Kickboxing fights and Muay Thai Featherweight title fight will start at 17:00. The event is at Westport Warehouse in Rossing St, Walvis Bay. The event will give all Namibian fighters a unique opportunity to showcase their talent and an opportunity to compete at international level and against the best fighters from other countries.
