Namibia’s Independence celebrations cancelled

President Hage Geingob called off Namibia’s 30th Independence celebrations on Saturday, shortly after the country’s first two Coronavirus cases were confirmed by the Ministry of Health and Social Services.

The Independence celebration was scheduled for 21 March, when President Geingob would be sworn in for a second term as Head of State of the Republic of Namibia. However, the swearing-in-ceremony will take place at State House.
