Nampol learns of health

On Wednesday, BRG Biokinetics, in collaboration with the Deputy Mayor of Swakopmund Clr. Maria Elago, a professional nurse presented a health fitness workshop for members of the Namibian Police serving the coastal towns.
The workshop’s purpose was to introduce a culture of personal well being for the Namibian Police and high-lighting the importance of a fitness program as part of your personal physical and psychological well being.
The workshop was held at BRG’s practice at Swakopmund. Dr Tietz provided information on how to achieve a healthy lifestyle and healthy living. Of particular importance were information shared with participants on pro-state cancer. Part of a healthy lifestyle is to be able to detect signs and symptoms of killer diseases in time and to get medical intervention without delay. Prostate cancer can be detected in time if the person knows what to look for.
A total of 30 police officers participated. Ten were from Swakopmund and Walvis Bay respectively, five from Arandis and five officers from Henties Bay participated in the.
“Employee health affects more than just medical costs. A Healthy workforce is more productive. With a growing focus on employee health, corporate wellness programs are increasingly becoming the order of the day”, explained Clr Elago in addressing participants.
Workplace wellness programs improve physical strengths, stigma and general well-being, improve focus at work, increase job satisfaction and foster a positive out-look on life and bet-tering relations with co-workers and super-visors, further explained.
Clr Elago encouraged officers to continue exercising, even though this was a one-day workshop at the gym, she said the officers are the backbone of the community and they need to be fit. “Your health is in your own hands from now on, I will not run after you and tell you what to do”.
Constable Robert Kaujova from the Mondesa Police station said he appreciates the effort of Elago. “It is a very good initiative and I am very happy to be here. We were chosen randomly”.
Constable Limbo Mosson said she hopes that this will be an annual workshop as it encourages them to exercise and shares the importance of fitness.
The officers were also subjected to blood sugar tests as well as blood pressure tests.
