Two sisters Erna Naruses (36) and Mellietjie Naruses (31) ended behind bars on a charge of murder, after Erna’s boyfriend, Willem Rudolf succumbed to his injuries when the two sisters assaulted him. Rudolf was struck with a pot on the head and kicked in the stomach. He started coughing up blood and died soon after.

This gruesome incident took place at Erna Naruses’ ghetto in Spitzkoppe where Rudolf was also staying. After the attack, the sisters allegedly locked Rudolf in the ghetto and only returned in the morning hours. The sisters then contacted the family of Rudolf and told them they discovered the body in the ghetto. The family then notified the police.
The suspects were however arrested on 28 December 2018 and appeared on 31 December at the Usakos Magistrate Court. The case was postponed to 30 January 2019 for the suspects to get legal advice while investigations continue. The accused sisters remain in custody. A post mortem examination is still to be conducted to determine the cause of death.
