NDF shoots running man in the back

An alleged career criminal remains hospitalised in Windhoek with a life threatening gunshot wound in the back, after a member of the Namibian Defense Force shot him on Saturday as he was running away from a robbery scene. Herman Shiimi (22) is known to the local police as a trouble maker and criminal.

The Namibian Police and NDF was conducted patrols in Kuisebmond on Saturday when they spotted two men robbing another man of his wallet. The police and army is conducting joined crime prevention patrols as part of the national anti-crime operation dubbed Operation Kalahari Desert.
Shiimi and his accomplice ran away as the patrol approached them. The NDF member fired three warning shots. He shot a fourth shot which hit Shiimi in the back.
He was hospitalised under police guard, but due to the seriousness of the gunshot wound had to be transferred to Windhoek.
The wallet was recovered but Shiimi’s accomplice already removed the cash and manage to escape the pursuing police and army members. It is only a matter of time though before he would be apprehended as his identity is known to the police.
