Nedbank Desert Dash entries open

The solo entries have opened last week Monday 7 June 2020 with entries for the two-person team following exactly a week later and the most popular entries, for four-person teams will be open as from Monday 21 June 2021.

As in the past we again allow only 20 team slots as “early bird” specials. This gives some of you the opportunity to guarantee an entry (as the online entries are normally sold out within minutes) plus it allows us to collect important funds for a good cause.
The early bird entries will only be valid once full payment is received, it will be first come first serve. The cost for early bird entries for double is N$24 000 of which N$12 000 of each entry will go towards a good cause.
You as “sponsors” will be consulted as to which charity or good cause we will support this year but the final decision rests with us as organisers though.

Nedbank Namibia’s head of marketing and communications Gernot de Klerk said that last year was a watershed year for us in terms of hosting a cycling event that attracts over a thousand participants,” De Klerk said, “but it has given us some excellent insights into hosting a mega event within the challenges that the global health pandemic has been presenting since the first quarter of last year.
De Klerk said “Our planning for the Nedbank Desert Dash has started in all earnest, having taken to heart many of the lessons of last year, as well as the invaluable insights that we have learned from a number of races, albeit at a smaller scale, that we have hosted in 2021 in conjunction with the Namibian Cycling Federation and cycling clubs, and with the ever-watchful guidance of the Namibia Sports Commission.”
“We are optimistic that the increased rate of global vaccinations, coupled with heightened levels of vigilance to guard against the spread of Covid-19, will be hugely beneficial for our quest to host the 2021 edition of the Nedbank Desert Dash,” De Klerk said.
De Klerk assured that full refunds of paid-up registration fees in the event that travel restrictions, however unlikely at this stage, may still scupper the plans of international cyclists to race in this year’s edition on Friday, 10 December 2021.
