New challenge for biking enthusiasts
There is only one week to go and then entries for the 2016 FNB Otjihavera Experience will open.
This great cycling event was launched on 17 May 2016 by FNB Namibia and the Rock and Rut club and will be held for the 11th time on 20 and 21 August 2016 at the Midgard Country Estate. “Cycling in Namibia has grown in popularity over the last few years and is managed and handled well by numerous clubs to make a variety of events unforgettable. It is an activity that can be enjoyed by the whole family and FNB Namibia is proud to be a supporter of this great sport,” says Revonia Kahivere, Corporate Social Investment Manager FNB Namibia.
Conrad Dempsey of the Rock and Rut club expressed his appreciation for the continuous support and commitment of FNB as main sponsor and Novel Ford as supporting sponsor to this special event. “The event is Namibia’s biggest multi stage mountain bike marathon and has grown into a regular on the Namibian cycling calendar. It also serves as bucket list event for many serious and ‘not so serious’ mountain bikers.”
Dempsey added that new to the 2016 event was the fact that both days would start and finish at the Midgard Country Estate and would be a totally new route. “Day one’s route will take riders from Midgard over to Leopard Lodge and loop back to Midgard. Day two will head north towards Otjiterazu with both days including a good mix of climbs to test the legs and fast fun sections with more exciting single track than in the past. The 2016 event will only be open to team entries, building on the fun of teamwork and camaraderie in this two-day event. Whether you are coming back to defend your title, a seasoned Otjihavera participant or a first timer, use the winter to get some distance in the legs and come enjoy this fun weekend of mountain biking.”
Entries will open on the 2nd of June and will be limited. Further details will follow over the next week and released at www.rockandrut.org . Any enquiries can be send to info@rockandrut.org.
