New MD for Erongo Marine

Erongo Marine Enterprises announced the appointment of their new Managing Director, Dr. Martha Uumati, on Wednesday in a press statement following the retirement of previous Managing Director, Mr Callie Jacobs, after a successful 18 year career with the company.

Uumati will take charge of the company’s horse mackerel business while providing strategic leadership in order to further develop and strengthen relationships within the fishing industry and fishing rights holders. “Uumati is committed to the sustainable utilisation of Namibia’s blue economy, particularly the fishing sector and the numerous communities that the industry supports,” is quoted in the statement.
Uumati has obtained multiple internationally accredited qualifications, including a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources from University of Namibia, a Postgraduate Diploma and a Master of Philosophy in Fisheries Biology and Fisheries Management from University of Bergen, Norway, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Marine Biology, specialising in Fisheries Acoustics from University of St Andrews, Scotland. She has earned valuable experience in a number of high profile roles.
