New policy to end “shady land deals”

A new policy is currently developed by the municipality of Walvis Bay which will soon give the Town Council the sole discretion to approve upset selling prices of erven and conditions of sale.

That includes incidences where conditions of sale are amended. This is expected to make and end to the current practice where Council is misled through certain officials changing the conditions of sale after Council has already considered and approved a sale.
The fact that conditions can be amended without Council’s approval is believed to be one of the sources of Walvis Bay’s shady land deals which deprived the municipality of millions of Namibian Dollar and only benefitted the elite and politically connected.
