No bail for CHEC cable theft suspects

The two employees of China Harbour Engineering Company, Mar-kus Sakaria (29) and Mateus Sakeus (31) who, along with two other suspects, stand accused of theft of electrical cables belonging to the company, appeared in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court on Monday and was denied bail.
The two suspects appeared before Magistrate Andre Matulich, who postponed the matter until 8 July for the tracing of the other two suspects who are still at large and for further investigation.
Sakaria and Sakeus were arrested during the weekend in Kuisebmond after they were suspected to have stolen electrical cables from CHEC, amounting to the value of N$800 000.
The suspects are alleged to have transported the stolen cables in a truck the company uses to transport its unwanted materials.
The stolen cables were located in Kuisebmond and returned to the rightful owners.
