No Namibians were in Mainliner crash

Residents made calls to the office of Namib Times in Walvis Bay on Monday wanting to inquire whether there were any Namibians on board a bus of Inter-cape Mainliner that overturned near Welkom in South Africa’s Free State Province. The bus was en route from Durban to Upington via Bloemfontein when the accident occurred at around 04:45 yesterday. At the time of going to press the deaths were confirmed of seven passengers and one driver.
The initial reports were that the bus was involved in an accident near Upington which led to the confusion and fears that there might have been Namibians onboard. Intercape Mainliner has a regular schedule between Windhoek and Johannesburg via Upington.
