NRU National Academy Intervention
NRU National Academy Intervention
The Namibian Rugby Union’s National Academy Intervention was held at the SFC Sports Club in Swakopmund on Tuesday the 16th of May 2017 with attendance of about 65 players and coaches of all the rugby clubs along the coast.
The intervention was the first of 2 such interventions to be held at the coast. National Coach Phil Davis started the intervention with a presentation explaining the vision of the NRU’s plans leading up to the World Cup 2019 to be held in Japan should Namibia qualify in 2018.
This presentation was to inform the players and coaches that they play a vital role in reaching the NRU’s goal to produce good quality players from all clubs in Namibia in order to create a more competitive domestic league resulting in greater criteria of players when selecting nation teams to represent the country at different levels. The presentation and skills training also focused on transferring skills and knowledge according to NRU’s High Performance Plan to the club coaches and their players to implement such knowledge and skills at their respective clubs.
The next intervention that will be held in Walvis Bay in July will be communicated to all clubs once a date has be confirmed. The NRU would like to thank everyone who attended this intervention as well as the SFC Sports Club for accommodating the NRU with a venue on such short notice.
