NVF Beach Open

The Namibian Volleyball Federation (NVF) 2019 Bank Windhoek Swakopmund Beach Volleyball Open competition that took place over Independence weekend witnessed 18 top beach volleyball teams participate.

The competing categories were: Men’s & Social 2-a-side with the men’s Championship Title went to Stefanus Kangandjera & Bernhard Schurz. This was the first ever tournament wins for Stefanus & Bernhard as a partnership. They overcame the brothers Danilo & Andriko von Ludwiger in the final, winning 2:0 (21:19, 21:15) to be crowned NVF Bank Windhoek Swakopmund Open Champions. Third place went to Conrad Johannes & James Verrinder.
The Social 2-a-side first place went to the duo of Michael Fente & Jorn Lüsse They overcame Nashikaku Sakeus & Kathima Matilde in the Social final, winning 2:1 (21:16, 16:21 & 15:12) to take the title. Third place went to the young pair of Hendrina Lindongo & Anna Henghono.
The Namibian Volleyball Federation (NVF) in its continued efforts to decentralize the sport and move its focus away from the capital and into the regions. The NVF will host 2 beach volleyball events in the North this year; (Rundu & Oshakati, dates to be announced soon, after the huge success of the two beach volleyball events and clinics in October 2018.
James Verrinder, NVF Director of Beach Volley-ball said, “We have a very well-established beach volleyball community in both Khomas & Erongo region, and we want to continue to work towards development in the North of Namibia, were 6-a-side volleyball is already very well established”.

This coming weekend, also in Swakop is the NVF Bank Windhoek DOC Tournament, hosted at The Dome. This will bring together 6-a-side teams from around Namibia to battle it out to become the Champion. Game starts on Saturday 30 March and conclude on Sunday 31 March 2019.
