Ocean Key – construction to commence soon
namib times 31 july 2015
After construction on the controversial Ocean Key luxury penthouse complex at Langstrand was stalled since the end of last year, all indications are that construction will start again, soon.
A spokesperson at the Municipality of Walvis Bay confirmed that they were informed that the project will go ahead, but could not say what the reason for the delay was.
Rumours that the developers were looking for new investors, could also not be confirmed.
The scaffolding and protective shade netting that covered the main structure, as well as seve-
ral smaller pre-fabricated structures, were removed.
Workers were observed on site where they were removing rust from the scaffolding pipes that were exposed to the harsh coas-tal climate.
We were referred to a certain Mr Sean Zch Tan, who said he was a translator for the Ocean Key project, and who telephonically requested that all queries be emailed to him.
He later replied that he could only tell us at this stage that they were removing the rust from the scaffolding and that it was all he could say at the moment.
Both he and one of the major shareholders, Mr Günther Heimstadt, were asked to indicate when physical construction would start and what the new completion date would be, but at the time of going to press there was no further information available.
Mr Heimstadt’s son, Erich, picked up his dad’s phone when namib times called for information yesterday, and said that his father was out of town on a hunting expedition, and that he would give him the message.
