Olive trees in the desert

The Namib Desert is home to 500 Olive trees planted by Magdalene and Ronald Vermaak, a couple from Walvis Bay.
The Vermaak family started the olive tree plantation in October of 2014 with the aim to produce proudly Namibian olive oil. The trees are planted on a portion of Farm 37, set aside for urban agriculture. The plantation currently has 500 trees planted on one hectare.  Mayor of Walvis Bay accompanied by some of the Councillors visited the plantation to familiarise themselves with its progress.
