One Ocean Hub in conjunction with the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources hosted a workshop last Thursday 27 June at the Narraville Community Hall in Walvis Bay.

The workshop was attended by about 100 members from various Government Ministries, NGO’s and the Business Industries in Namibia.
The Deputy Director of One Ocean Hub Dr. Daniela Diz said “The purpose of the workshop was to put forward and present the research strategy of One Ocean Hub and to listen to the concerns of all industries and community members in Namibia”.
One Ocean Hub would like to under-stand the development perspectives with in Namibia and then target the problems that were identified.
“We would like to have a better under-standing of the different perspectives as the research that will be done need to be with the vision and objectives of the research project, to achieve healthier oceans that will be a benefit to the people and most vulnerable communities and the well-being of Namibia” Diz added.
The One Ocean Hub is an ambitious N$400 million programme aimed at transforming the global response to the urgent challenges of oceans law, science and governance.
The five-year research program-me is being funded by the UK Research and Innovation’s Global Challenges Research Fund and involves more than 50 partners, including world-leading research centres, development organisations, community representatives, governments and multiple UN agencies.
