Only two months to go….

The container terminal constructed on re-claimed land in the port of Walvis Bay will be commissioned during August and September this year.  An inauguration ceremony is planned for 1 August, said a source familiar with the project yesterday. Construction commenced mid-2014. The beginning phase entailed the construction of this massive man-made island (pictured above). That was followed by the construction of a quay wall and the terminal surface. Then it was roads, building infrastructure, a railway line onto the terminal as well as the installation of four gigantic ship-to-shore cranes which is visible on the picture.
