Parent’s hearts eased

Much needed relief for the parents at Swakopmund Primary School came on Friday in the form of 130 backpacks full of stationary for school’s needy learners.

Two non-profit organisations, Liefde Wen Namibia and the Namibian Youth Missions made this most welcomed donation.
The two organisations raised around N$40 000-00 for this project in less than a month. They initiated the project in November last year. Family and friends put shoulder to the wheel to give the project momentum.
“We feel education is a blessing and through reaching out to the children of our nation, they would be motivated and inspired to strive towards great achievements”, said a representative.
Mrs Annemarie Mater, a teacher at SPS, expressed her thankfulness that the school was selected as a beneficiary of the project.
“I went from class to class to identify our needy children. Some children did not even own a proper school bag on their first day of school. One can see clearly when a child’s parents are struggling to make ends meet to provide for their children’s education”, said Mater.
The Principal of Swakopmund Primary School Mr Tjomuinjo also thanked the sponsors and said the learners who benefited from this project are fortunate to have received this gift.
She encouraged them to take care of the stationery and the backpacks. “Work hard so that you can progress to the next grade”, she proclaimed.
