Pipe rupture plays havoc in Ocean View

A burst pipe on the corner of Ametis and Saphir Street in Swakopmund early yesterday morning caused absolute mayhem. Some residents leaving for work got stuck in the mud and had to be towed out, while a room of a guesthouse down the road was flooded. According to some residents, the pipe burst sometime after midnight. It was reported to the municipality at about 5:00 in the morning. When namib times visited the scene the road was closed and an utter mess. Some residents were busy shovelling sand from their driveways while others made small sand walls to redirect the water flow.
