Pres Geingob announces drastic cut to his Cabinet

Pres Hage Geingob yesterday drastically cut his Cabinet from 26 members to 19. At a press conference at State House in Windhoek he also announced the merging of several ministries.

The following changes were announced by the President:
The ministries of Poverty Eradication and Women’s Affair will merge and be added to the presidency.
The ministries of home affairs and safety and security will merge, as will the ministry of defense and veterans affairs; Agriculture, Water and Land Reform.
The department of forestry will in future be part of the ministry of the environment and tourism.
The Ministry of Justice will be supported by the attorney general, who will be a professional lawyer and no longer a political appointee.
