Prime Minister receives her Covid-19 vaccine

Namibia’ Prime Minister Saara Nandjila Kuugongelwa-Amadhila joined other Cabinet members and senior Government official at Rhino Park in Windhoek on Saturday, to receive the Covid-19 vaccine. According to reports the prime minister received the AstraZeneca CoviShield.

According to the latest statistics that were available at the time of going to press yesterday, a total of 56 759 Namibians received the first dose so far. A total of 22 377 received the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine and 34 582 people received the AstraZeneca CoviShield.
A total of 3 780 Namibians already received their second dose.
A total of 51 827 people contracted Covid-19 since the pandemic hit the country in the first weeks of 2020, of which 48 531 people recovered (94 % recovery rate).
A total of 612 people died of Covid-19 and a further 127 people died of Covid-19 related illnesses.
