Reeds in Swakop Rivier go up in flames again
Once again the greenery in the Swakop River went up in flames yesterday close to the train bridge leading over the river.
The Swakopmund Fire Brigade was quickly at the scene and extinguished the fire. The fire started after workers of TransNamib, the national rail carrier, were busy doing maintenance work on the bridge using a welding machine. The sparks quickly ignited the reeds, causing white smoke to billow into the air which could be seen from town. The fire brigade remained at the scene to monitor the situation.
