Region 5 Amateur Golf Tournament

The Region 5 Amateur Golf Tournament previously known as the Zone 6 Tournament will be held under the auspices of the R & A is scheduled to take place at the Rossmund Golf Course from 8- 11 April 2019 for the third year in succession.

Region 5 is made up of 10 countries mainly Angola; Botswana; Lesotho; Malawi; Mozambique; Namibia; South Africa; Swaziland (Eswatini); Zambia & Zimbabwe. At this point in time only Botswana and Mozambique have not answered the call – however Mauritius requested to play giving us a 9 country starting line-up. Each country will be represented by four players. The Namibian Team will consist of four Coastal Players – Kevin Wentzel; Likuis Nande; Grant Mather & Stanley Gawanab. Play will commence with a practice round and the Opening Ceremony on Monday 8 April – giving the players a chance to enjoy and experience the course especially where the “desert meets the green” this will be followed by 54 holes of stroke play and a final 18 holes of match play on Thursday – the tournament comes to a close with a prize giving ceremony to be held at the Swakopmund Plaza Hotel. Tournaments of this magnitude cannot take place without the generous support of sponsors and the time consuming efforts of the tournament committee and their numerous helpers.
