Renowned news photographer John Liebenberg died age 62

The celebrated journalist and photographer, John Liebenberg, died in South Africa over the weekend at the age of 62. Liebenberg recovered from surgery when fatal complications stepped in.

Liebenberg was a war photographer in the 1980’s, having joined The Namibian newspaper during that time. Closer to home Liebenberg will be remembered for his arrest twice within five days in May 2006 in Swakopmund and later in Walvis Bay on trespassing charges. That was in his quest to photograph the then Hollywood glamour couple, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt who spent months here at the coast waiting for the birth of their first biological child….
