Ruling coalition welcomes the ACC-raid

Stakeholders of the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC), the Joint Walvis Bay Residents Association (JWRA), Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) and Landless People Movement (LPM) welcomed the raid the Anti-Corruption Commission of Namibia carried out on three officials of the municipality of Walvis Bay.

The four mentioned parties have the majority of seats in the Walvis Bay Town Council with the IPC with four seats, and the other mentioned parties one seat each. The Walvis Bay town council was dominated by the Swapo Party for 26 years, but public trust in the Party faded in Erongo.
The ACC confiscated computers and other data storage devices on Wednesday, as part of a corruption probe over land and housing.
Although welcoming the ACC’s action, the ruling coalition cautioned against sensationalising the matter or to use the matter for political revenge.
“Let the matter take its course. In the meantime, let us call upon every official in the municipality of Walvis Bay to join hands with the new town council. Let us clear our municipality of corruption, nepotism, and inefficiency. Let us work for the good of every citizen and not only for certain people”, these stakeholders summed it up.
