RVS hosts 60th equestrian tournament

Today marks the start of the 60th equestrian tournament hosted by the ReiterVerein Swakopmund (RVS). The tournament runs until 8 January. Visitors can look forward to a great variety of dressage and jumping competitions.

The show begins with the annual rider parade through town followed by a cocktail reception at the RVS in Windhuker Street. This evening the RVS will host its official Gala Dinner to mark the special anniversary. During this time the history of the RVS from its humble beginnings will be told.
The tournament will commence this afternoon with various dressage competitions which will continue tomorrow morning at 8:00. On Thursday the experienced jumping course designer Heiko Wahlers, who has travelled from Germany for the occasion, will set up the course. Although Wahlers has officially retired he will for the last time show his capabilities during the tournament.
In the coming days more competitions in dressage and jumping will take place at the RVS. Visitors can look forward to another highlight on Saturday as parachutists are set to deliver a special show. Everybody is welcome to be part of this event – food and drinks are readily available. Entrance is free.
