Scene of the accident reveals the force of the fatal collision

Walvis Bay town councillor and former chairman of the management committee, Samson Nghilumbwa, was killed in a car crash near Arandis early yesterday morning. The vehicle in which Clr Nghilumbwa travelled from the Husab mine, where he was employed, collided head-on with a truck.

The Namibian Police confirmed the incident yesterday and said the accident happened some 20 km from Arandis in the direction of Swakopmund. Nghilumbwa (35) was traveling in a Volkswagen Polo. The vehicle was almost totally destroyed by the force of the collision.
The driver of the truck, identified as one William Roderick Van Wyk (29), and a 17-year-old passenger, both escaped unharmed.
A case of culpable homicide and reckless and or negligent driving are now investigated.
