Sea drama off Walvis Bay

Crew abandoned.  Makes a may day call……

A tug of Namport raced to the rescue yesterday of three crew members aboard the chemical tanker Emre T (file photo) which is at anchorage off port limits in Walvis Bay. The crew made a distress call to port control, after they ran out of food, water and other critical supplies.

The three crew members were the only people on-board and it seems at this stage both the vessel owner and captain abandoned the ship. A source says the vessel was arrested by the ports authority and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
