Blocked drains at the Swakopmund police station in the central business district is a messy affair that lead to frustrations both for residents and businesses in the immediate area, but also the Namibian Police which can only sit idle and wait for the Ministry of Works and Transport to fix the problem.
The Ministry of Works and Transport is the custodian of all Government property and the Department of Works has maintenance teams which must take care of these problems, explained a police source whom said both the Police and members of the public are equally frustrated.
“This is a very bad image. The water has been standing open for days now. It is smelly and it is unhygienic. This is not the first time this is happening. This is a frequent problem and we are becoming fed up”, said one resident.
