SFC Coastal Open Squash Championship

The SFC Squash Club will host the prestigious annual WB Hardware Coastal Open Squash Championship on 14-16 December 2018 at the SFC Sport Club in Swakopmund.

The Chairman, Rudi Koekemoer, confirmed that WB Hardware & Building Supplies is the premium sponsor for this event. He emphasised that it is indeed an incredible privilege during the current economic recession to secure a reputable sponsor of this magnitude. The total prize money for the various divisions shall total N$20,000 with various lucky draws and other prizes to be won too.
The Coastal Open takes place during the festive season in Swakopmund when people from all walk of life decent on the beautiful coastal town to enjoy the Atlantic Ocean’s cool breeze and to participate in a hive of activities on offer. Families celebrate another year that has passed into history and look forward to a new exciting 2019. This relaxed atmosphere brings a special festive culture to the Coastal Open where new friendships are forged and where old friend meet up again to battle it out on court to secure bragging rights for the next twelve months.
Entries have been received from all corners of Namibia with more expected from within SADC to challenge the defending champions, Danie Greeff (Men’s Champions 2017) and Chantel De Gouveia (Ladies Champion 2017). The defending champions are indeed worthy of their titles and it is going to require a special effort to challenge them. However, some quality entries have already been received and more are likely to enter.
The tournament will accommodate 36 men’s and 16 ladies’ players. This is going to be a memorable tournament and therefore we would like to encourage squash players to stay in shape this festive season by entering and enjoying festive squash at its best.
