Strand Hotel celebrates 2nd birthday
An afternoon to remember: The Strand Hotel celebrated its 2nd birthday on Monday, 9 October. “Thank you for sticking with us”, proclaimed Strand Hotel General Manager Lance Hurly during the celebrations.
Many Swakopmund residents were part of the birthday celebrations, including Mayor Pauline Nashilundo and former Strand Hotel Manager Hilmar Tonnemacher.
“The history of the Strand Hotel is inextricably interwoven”, Hurley explained.
Adding the new hotel, which officially opened its doors two years ago, marked the beginning of new history.
“The first two weeks were quite chaotic and I wish to say thank you all that you stuck with us”, he said. Since its opening the Strand Hotel has become an icon in Swakopmund. “It is a great place to work”, he added.
The N$350 million project is one of the biggest tourism developments on the central coast.
The Strand Hotel features a wide variety of rooms, ranging from standard rooms, luxury rooms to luxury suites and a presidential suite. It also features three unique restaurants, namely the Ocean Cellar, the Farm-house Deli and the Brewer and Butcher, which remain popular among tourists and residents alike.
Overall the Strand Hotel boasts a score of 4.5 on Trip Advisor, based on more than 370 reviews.
