Successful arrests of drunk and driving by Nampol

Nine drivers were arrested over the weekend in Erongo region for driving whilst under the influence of alcohol whereby two of them were involved in collisions. Swakopmund Police Station registered two cases, Mondesa Charge Office reported five cases and Kuisebmund Police Station reported two cases. The arrested suspects were due to appear yesterday in Swakopmund and Walvis Bay magistrate courts respectively, the reports were confirmed by Chief Inspector Erastus Iikuyu of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in Erongo region.

In another incident a rape case was reported at Omaruru. According to Iikuyu the incident happened behind Agra in Omaruru between 18H00 and 19H00 on 22 October. It is alleged that the victim was walking home from her father’s house in town on the way back to Ozondje Suburb when she was approached by an unknown suspect to her, who grabbed her arms, threatened her with a knife and raped her. The suspect is not known to the victim, but according to her she might identify him if she see him physically at a later stage. No arrest have been made at this point and investigations continue.
