Swakopmund mayor angered by theft of prepaid water stand

The Mayor of Swakopmund, Cllr Louisa Kativa, expressed her shock and dismay this week at the theft of the newly-installed prepaid water stand in the Democratic Resettlement Community (DRC).

The water stand is the source of clean and accessible water supply to the residents of the DRC. “It is unbelievable that there are individuals who break down what is meant to uplift the community”, the mayor said. Adding incidents like these are socially regressive, and the thieves need to be brought to the book.
“If you witnessed the incident at the water stand, or know the perpetrators, please report it so that action can be taken”.
Kativa further pleaded with the community of Swakopmund as a whole to refrain from acts such, as it deprives people from the basic right of access to drinkable water.
