Swakopmund Psychiatrist to be tried on rape charges

Dr Pieter van der Westhuizen, the Swakopmund-based psychiatrist who allegedly drugged and raped a woman in his practice in 2015, will stand trial in the Windhoek High Court in June next year. His trial is due to start on 17 June.

Van der Westhuizen faces three charges of rape, one of indecent assault and a charge of attempted murder, alternatively using a drug to stupify or overpower his victim to facilitate unlawful sexual intercourse.
