Theft of dustbins,water taps and other valuables on the increase

Walvis Bay residents are increasingly frustrated by vagrants who during the day steal rubbish bins (as seen above) they then use to cart scrap metal and other resellable items from suburbs like Meersig and the Lagoon to merchants in the northern industrial area. The theft of copper water taps, fire hydrant taps, house numbers, copper wiring and copper piping is on the increase in Walvis Bay. A plight was made this week from community members for the Namibian Police to step up efforts to deal with these menacing petty criminals.
