Top Gear presenters visit Uis

Big excitement in a small settlement. Last week Friday a resident of Uis and owner of Brandberg Rest Camp, Basil Calitz, made new friends – but they are well-known all over the world. The three presenters of the famous television series Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May had stopped in Uis.

“I saw there was something going on at the Service Station, so I went over and met them,” Calitz said to namib times. He continued saying that the three presenters were very friendly and “we talked a lot.” They were very secretive about their exact trip though and didn’t want to reveal any information about where they were heading next. They had just stopped in Uis to fuel up.
According to Calitz they were driving beach buggies, one of which has a big V8 engine. “They also took a shot with me in it. Maybe I’ll feature in the episode,” Calitz said. Although the presenters didn’t want to reveal their next destination, Calitz got a glimpse of them heading north up to Twyfelfontein.
