Spanish fisherman plunges to his death aboard vessel as he speaks on phone with his wife.

Tragedy struck in the Walvis Bay fishing harbour on Sunday afternoon when a Spanish national fell to his death on a fishing vessel as he was speaking to his wife on the phone. The distressed wife called the vessel and asked fellow crew members to go and investigate why the phone connection ended so abruptly.

Fellow crew members found the man, identified as Jesus Gonzalez Peres (46), dead in the fish hold of the vessel. It is suspected he plunged to his death from the upper deck and was killed on impact by a fractured skull.
The tragedy occurred aboard the fishing vessel Nuevo Rumbo Algeciras.
The vessel was moored at the fishing jetty of Freddie Fish Processors when the tragedy occurred.
The Police is a statement says no foul play is suspected. A post mortem will follow.
