Train drags sedan about 80 metres

A female driver of a sedan vehicle sustained less serious injuries on Friday morning after a train hit her car in Swakopmund and dragged it about 80 metres on before coming to a standstill.

The incident occurred just after 07:00 at the railway station in Mandume Ya Ndemufayo Street. “There was very thick fog, so it is assumed that the driver failed to see the train approaching. Luckily I was going very slowly,” the train driver said to namib times at the scene. Some of the eyewitnesses at the scene of the accident called on the relevant authorities to erect a boom to prevent such incidents in future.
