TransNamib diesel engines a pollution nightmare

Jacques Marais of namib times took this picture on Sunday afternoon of this freight train of TransNamib underway to Walvis Bay with a big black column of smoke visible from kilometres away.

“I first thought the train is on fire, as the smoke was thick and black. When closer, I discovered to my disbelief this is actually smoke from the exhaust system of the locomotive.”
TransNamib as a corporate citizen with a responsibility towards Namibia must definitely investigate this phenomenon as several members of the public across Namibia have been complaining about trains’ excessive smoke emissions.
