Two men rape women, assault man trying to help

Another brutal rape incident in Erongo: A 28 year-old woman was raped by two suspects late on Saturday evening in Karibib.

Both suspects were arrested, said Detective Chief Inspector Erastus Iikuyu, acting crime co-ordinator in the Erongo Region.
According to Iikuyu the incident occurred at about 23:30 in the Usab informal settlement. “It is alleged that the victim and the two suspects were drinking together at a shebeen,” he said. While they were enjoying themselves, the suspects took the victim by force to a vacant house about 40 metres away from the bar and raped her. “They allegedly also assaulted one male person who tried to rescue the victim. This person reported a case of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm against the suspects as well,” Iikuyu said.
