Two new navy vessels delivered for Namibia
Two navy vessels destined for service in the Namibian Navy were delivered in Walvis Bay yesterday. The two vessels were shipped to Namibia on the cargo deck of the Chinese-registered cargo vessel Da Qing and lowered into the water alongside at berth number seven in the port of Walvis Bay.
A spokesperson for the Namibia Defence Force in Windhoek yesterday confirmed the delivery of the two naval vessels, but said there is limited information available as to the origin of the vessels and the role these vessels would fulfil.
The spokesperson also confirmed the Ministry of Defence will make an announcement soon and that quayside christening ceremonies would take place in the weeks to come during which these two latest naval assets will be showcased to the Namibian public.
