Two trucks collide head-on in Swakopmund

Four people were injured on Saturday evening after they were involved in a head-on collision between two trucks on the temporary detour road close to the Riteway Service Station in Swakopmund.

According to initial reports, the driver of a smaller truck lost control while entering Swakopmund, smashing head-on into a stationary truck which had broken down earlier that day.
The broken-down truck was being guarded by a First Response security guard, who managed a lucky escape and immediately notified the relevant rescue services. The Swakopmund Fire & Rescue Services had to extricate two of the occupants entrapped in the wreckage of the smaller truck, with four occupants allegedly seated in the front at the time of the collision.
The driver of the smaller truck was apparently escorted from the scene by the Swakopmund Municipal Traffic. The nature of their injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
A word of appreciation to all who assisted: Swakopmund Municipal Traffic and Fire and Rescue Services, Nampol, Swakopmund Neighbourhood Watch, E-Med Rescue 24, Eagle Ambulance and Rescue Service and First Response Security.
